Mark is a Chartered Financial Analyst, Senior Portfolio Manager, and a graduate of Bishop’s University with a degree in Economics and Finance. Mark is responsible for overall portfolio and investment strategy including asset allocation, security selection and tax efficiency. He brings a disciplined, analytical, and innovative approach to building client portfolios. He focuses on a balance of performance and capital preservation tailored to each individual client’s short, medium, and long-range objectives, which are first articulated through our Wealth Planning process. With over 30 years of investment industry experience, Mark has an in-depth understanding of the dynamic economic and investment landscape as well as a keen ability to be proactive while recognizing opportunities for our clients. Mark has both his Derivative and Options licenses, and has successfully completed the Partners, Directors, and Senior Officers course (PDO). As a licensed Branch Manager Mark previously managed the Richardson GMP Toronto office. Mark was elected by his fellow partners to the Richardson Wealth Board of Directors (previously known as Richardson GMP) from 2010 – 2017. He holds ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors. Mark was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario. He was an avid rugby player for several decades and is a lifelong sailor. He and his wife Gail, have three young children and spend their free time cycling, skiing, and playing enthusiastically competitive board games together. They also enjoy experiencing new cultures on family vacations.
Jamie brings his considerable expertise in Portfolio Management, Alternative Asset Class development and selection, along with Capital Markets analysis and commentary, to our practice after a long and distinguished tenure as SVP Head of Investment Strategies at Richardson Wealth. In his role at MBP Sterling Partners, Jamie is further institutionalizing our portfolio management process and investment offerings to our clients. Jamie graduated from Queen’s University with an Honours BA in Economics and Geography in 1997 and started in fixed income the same year working on the Bond Desk at First Marathon Securities, which was later acquired by National Bank Financial. First Associates in 2003, which evolved into Blackmont Capital and then Macquarie Private Wealth. He was appointed Vice President, Fixed Income, in 2005 and became a Chartered Financial Analyst charter holder in 2006. A year later, he was appointed Director of Fixed Income. Jamie is a CFA charterholder, licensed in derivatives and options, and has completed his Partners, Directors and Officers (PDO) course. Jamie and his wife Talei have two young children. The family like to spend time quizzing each other on math and geography and playing on the water with the kids – beach or dock.
Anne has been managing our client’s portfolios since 1993 and has built strong long lasting relationships with each of them. Understanding their individual needs, she engages with them and utilizes her vast knowledge and experience from over 30 years in the industry to advise them towards success. Anne graduated from Ryerson University with the Bachelor of Business Management degree. Additionally, Anne has her Options License and Insurance License, is a licensed Portfolio Manager and is a Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute. Anne is married with two children and enjoys spending quality time with them, particularly sharing their love of travel and golf.
Matteo brings more than 30 years of investment experience to the team, including expertise in portfolio management, equity strategy development, operational effectiveness and team management. Skilled in constructing style-oriented quantitative investment strategies, Matteo has broad experience in both the U.S. and Canadian equity markets. His belief in a quantitative investment process to developing and managing money, combined with a deep respect for our team’s portfolio management style and client approach, aligns him well to provide portfolio management advice through a strategic partnership with Mark Begg, Rob Panes and the MBP Sterling Partners team. Matteo has an MBA and has been a Chartered Financial Analyst charterholder since 1994. Outside of the office, Matteo enjoys hiking and biking in the great outdoors.
As a Senior Investment Advisor, Jody plays an integral role in client relationship management, and is also responsible for investment management support working closely with Anne O’Farrell. Jody also works closely with the Richardson Wealth Tax and Estate Planning team to ensure that all components of wealth planning, including: retirement planning, tax and financial planning strategies, estate planning, insurance solutions, philanthropy, and business succession plans, are considered. Jody enjoys working with our clients as well as their external professionals as part of the team’s integrated approach in helping clients manage their wealth. Jody is a graduate of the Western University with a degree in Economics and Political Science. Jody is a Chartered Investment Manager and has a Level II Insurance license. She joined the firm in 1994. Jody is married with 2 children and enjoys various fitness classes and skiing.
Tessy is a Senior Investment Advisor who has a key role in managing client relationships and is responsible for trading and portfolio execution. Working alongside Rob Panes for 20 years she helps in the construction and management of client portfolios. Tessy is a graduate of the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Commerce. She is a licensed registered representative and is also insurance licensed. Tessy lives in Etobicoke with her husband and daughter. She is a passionate Raptors fan and enjoys travelling with her family.
Jennifer is a Senior Investment Advisor dedicated to managing client relationships as well as being responsible for trading and investment execution. In addition, she works closely with Mark to construct and manage client portfolios. As a graduate of Western University with a degree in Statistics, Jennifer has worked in the financial services industry for close to 25 years. Jennifer is a licensed Registered Representative with specialized courses in Derivatives and Options and has earned her Chartered Investment Manager (CIM®) designation. Spending time with family is a priority for Jennifer. She and her husband are raising their two sons in charming Brooklin, Ontario.
Elizabeth is a Senior Investment Advisor devoted to managing client relationships. She is responsible for trading, portfolio execution, and providing investment advice. Elizabeth has a keen interest, and experience in delivering comprehensive wealth plans to our clients. She works closely with our Tax and Estate Planning Group to provide advice, and guidance on all financial matters including retirement planning, insurance, corporate and estate planning. Elizabeth has over 15 years of experience in the financial services industry and completed an Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree at McMaster University. She lives in Etobicoke with her husband, and two young children. In her spare time she loves to travel, cook, and spend time with her extended family.
Anne Kim plays a key role on our team in managing day to day business. Holding a Commerce degree from the University of Toronto, her Certified Financial Planner designation, and Level 2 Life Insurance. Anne has applied her education in the financial industry for over 25 years and continues to apply her dedication continuously to deliver superior client experience. Anne wears many hats from coordinating with lawyers and accountants, to building strong relationships with every client to ensure trust, comfort and peace of mind. When not showing her commitment to her clients, Anne can be found running through the streets of Toronto or cycling through cottage country in the summer months, and is always looking for a good book recommendation!
Gail has over fifteen years of experience in the financial services sector and in her current role with MBP Sterling Partners her primary responsibilities include marketing, communications, and business development. Gail graduated with high distinction from the University of Toronto with a degree in Economics, later completing the Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA®) accreditation through the Investments and Wealth Institute.
Prior to joining MBP Sterling Partners, she was a Regional Director at a multinational mutual fund company.
In her spare time, Gail enjoys travelling with her family, cycling to destinations with pastries, and good reads of all sorts.
Karin has been an invaluable member of our group since 2010, bringing with her a wealth of expertise and dedication to excellence. Known for her unwavering integrity, professionalism, and commitment to delivering outstanding service. Her role within our group is diverse, encompassing administration management, operations, and utilizing her registered representative license. She oversees all aspects of administration, ensuring smooth operations, and maintaining compliance with regulatory standards. As a graduate student of State University of New York (SUNY) at Oswego, with a bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Karin is our people person and is always ready with a joke. Outside of her professional endeavours, Karin is an enthusiastic member of Orange Theory and enjoys spending time with her family.
Wes joined the team in 2022 and as a licensed representative he maintains the highest level of client service as he collaborates with various team members in their day-to-day efforts. Wes brings with him experience as a research analyst and project coordinator for an alternative asset management firm. With a multidisciplinary background in the hospitality industry and real estate development, Wes delivers a dynamic and quality-driven approach in supporting MBP Sterling Partner’s clients. Wes graduated from Ryerson University with a B.A. in Sociology and holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in international business from the University of Liverpool. When he gets the chance, you can find Wes enjoying the outdoors, hiking, golfing, or trying to stay above the water kiteboarding.
In her five years with Richardson Wealth as Client Services Administrator, Cheryl’s main role has been client communication and administration. This includes scheduling meetings, welcoming new clients, keeping paperwork up to date, administering new accounts, processing client transactions, and numerous other important tasks. Cheryl is a personable and energetic team member dedicated to the highest standard of client service.
Outside of the office Cheryl enjoys travel, meeting people, binge watching National Geographic and FBI, hiking, and trying new foods. She also loves to volunteer, especially helping the elderly.
