David J. Porter FCSI®, CIM®
Portfolio Manager, Investment Advisor

With 30 years of experience, David takes an education-first approach to his practice. He aims to empower his clients in the wealth planning process and works with them to understand the thought behind the investment decision-making process. As an investment advisor and portfolio manager, he specializes in family wealth plan design, portfolio construction, tax minimization strategies, and retirement, succession, and estate planning.

Before joining Richardson Wealth in 2009, David was a partner and major shareholder at a private investment firm in Western Canada. He is a Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute (FCSI®) and a Chartered Investment Manager (CIM®) and holds a Degree in Education from the University of Alberta.

David’s personal and professional passions have led him down the path of executive leadership training, board governance, and knowing the value they provide. He currently sits on the RF Capital Board of Directors.

David enjoys spending time with his wife and daughters and their dog, Fozzie. He likes to stay active, alternating between his Peloton and road biking, or cross-country skiing.

Andy Zylstra CFA®, CFP®, CIM
Portfolio Manager, Investment Advisor

As a portfolio manager and investment advisor, Andy values his personal connections with clients. He helps them weather financial challenges and celebrates the milestones on the way to achieving their financial goals. Bringing over 20 years of experience to every interaction, he is involved in all portfolio construction and wealth planning aspects for clients.

Andy has always been interested in the finance industry. After graduating from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology with a Business Administration Diploma majoring in finance, he worked at an Alberta credit union. He joined David Porter in 2005 and together they brought the practice to Richardson Wealth in 2009.

Andy holds the Certified Financial Planner (CFP®), Canadian Investment Manager (CIM) and Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) designations.

Outside of working, Andy likes spending time with his young children, and supporting them with the activities they enjoy, which often involves a lot of driving.

Shannon Pyper CFP®, CIM®
Associate Wealth Advisor

In her role as an associate wealth advisor, Shannon is the primary advisor and point of contact for over 100 families. She works closely with clients on retirement planning and wealth plan creation. Shannon brings 25 years of experience in finance to the Porter Zylstra Wealth Management team.

While earning her Finance Diploma with Honours from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology, Shannon saw firsthand how investment advisors work with families to help them achieve their goals. She instantly knew it was what she wanted to do. She joined a major financial institution working as an associate from 1999 to 2005, until the team moved to Richardson Wealth's predecessor firm. In 2017, the team merged with Porter Zylstra Wealth Management. 

Shannon has both the Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) and the Chartered Investment Manager (CIM®) designations.

She enjoys spending her free time with her partner and their dog Indie, hiking, camping or indoor rock climbing.

Adam Turgeon B.Comm.
Associate

As an associate, Adam approaches every task from client service and administration to trading and operations, through the lens of making a difference in clients’ financial well-being. This is what has always drawn him to the industry. 

Adam spent three years in oil and gas and construction before earning a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance in 2019. Then, he joined the Porter Zylstra Wealth Management team and became a key player on the team.

Adam has completed the Canadian Securities Course (CSC), the Conduct and Practices Handbook Course, and Wealth Management Essentials. He is currently enrolled to write the CFA Level 3 exam.

Adam enjoys spending time with family and friends. He also likes weightlifting and travelling.

Abdullahi Abdulkadir B.Comm.
Assistant

Abdullahi plays a key role in clients’ experience as an assistant, supporting team members with daily tasks such as reviewing transactions, setting up meetings, and ensuring all documentation is up to date. He brings five years of experience in the financial services industry to the team.

After graduating from Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University) with a Bachelor of Commerce, Abdullahi started his career in the back office at Richardson Wealth, transitioning to the Porter Zylstra Wealth Management team in 2020.

Outside of work, Abdullahi is a major fan of sports – particularly basketball – and is a part of local community basketball leagues including City League and Edmonton Brothers Basketball. He enjoys soccer, MMA, and watching hockey and baseball. He has a big family and spends a lot of his free time with cousins and friends.

Heather Warnock
Assistant

Heather brings meticulous attention to detail to her role as an assistant, staying on top of team members' meetings and calendars, stepping up to support clients as needed, and helping ensure documentation is up to date.

After graduating from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology with a diploma in Chemical Technology, Heather spent six years as a Quality Control Lab Analyst at Dow Chemical. Passionate about helping people, she joined the Porter Zylstra Wealth Management team in 2021. 

Heather spends her time outside the office as the treasurer of her family's historical foundation. She is enthusiastic about keeping the family name’s heritage and history alive today and for future generations.

Ana Villanueva B.B.A.
Assistant

Working alongside the Porter Zylstra Wealth Management team since 2023, Ana helps facilitate the onboarding experience for our clients, preparing the documentation for opening and updating accounts quickly and accurately and ultimately streamlining the client experience.

After graduating from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) with a Bachelor of Business Administration majoring in finance, Ana worked as a customer service representative at CIBC and as a personal loan associate at Cashco Financial. In addition to her BBA from NAIT, Ana has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, majoring in financial management from HCDC Philippines.

In her spare time, Ana enjoys listening to podcasts about parenthood, spending time with family, going to the driving range, cooking, and engaging in her newest hobby: texture arts.

Rachel Flores
Assistant
Rachel Flores

As an assistant, Rachel supports the team and our clients in any way she can, from preparing documents to building relationships and connecting with clients. She brings five years of financial services experience to the team.

Interested in investments and supporting clients' financial well-being, Rachel joined the industry shortly after graduating from NorQuest College in 2018 with a Business Administration Diploma, majoring in Industrial Management from the Technological University of the Philippines. She worked in international money transfer and remittances, credit counselling, consumer proposal, and bankruptcy, helping clients navigate insolvency and rebuild credit. She joined Porter Zylstra Wealth Management in 2023.

Rachel devotes her free time to self-care activities like kickboxing, Pilates, and hot yoga. She also enjoys listening to audiobooks and podcasts, camping and spending time with family.
