As his career took root, Sam Gagnon was ready to start exploring investment planning. His parents recommended that he contact the Mactaggart-Hryn team as Will had been their trusted advisor for many years.
When he first met Mike Hryn, Sam says he felt an immediate connection and he knew that he was in good hands.
“I really like the face-to-face conversations with Mike. They are a lot simpler than reading through emails and reports. It’s easy for Mike to show me something on his computer, or walk through my investment report and I can ask questions as we chat. It’s just more relaxed, and he spends a lot of time understanding what I’m looking for,” says Sam.
He enjoys learning about investment and isn’t afraid to bring his own ideas to the table. He trusts Mike, who will also have recommendations based on their discussions. “You can tell that they do their homework and know what’s going on, so I trust Mike’s advice,” he says. “We talk it through, and I can say yes or no if it’s not for me.”
The relationship doesn’t feel transactional as it does with a bank, Sam says. “They really try to connect with me on a personal level. It’s not always money first. A conversation with Mike is about my life, not about my money.”
