Looking to top up? Find out your available TFSA contribution room The Tax-Free Savings Account (TFSA) is a useful tool for earning tax-free income for your short or long term gain. As you may know, unused contributions can be carried forward to subsequent years so it’s important to know your balances and potential further savings. If you want to know what your available up-to-date contribution balance is, log in to the Canada Revenue Agency’s My Account service. At the top of the page, locate and click on the RRSP and Savings Plans tab. On the following page, click on Tax-Free Savings Account (TFSA) which will direct you to relevant information concerning your TFSA including your Contribution Room, which includes your annual and cumulative TFSA balances. If you prefer to check your TFSA contribution room by telephone, you can do so by calling Tax Information Phone Service (TIPS) at 1.800.267.6999. You’ll need your Social Insurance Number (SIN) and the amount stated on line 150 of your previous year’s income tax return.
